How do you spend your emotional money?
Think of your actions and reactions as emotional money. You only have so much in the bank. How much of your hard earned money do you want to spend on any one thing, person or event. Is that rude clerk really worth spending any of your emotional money on? Generally no. Is it worth your emotional money to spend time with people who light you up? Yes, that’s a hard yes!
- Spend your emotional money wisely. Spend it on things and people and events that bring you joy, nothing else. Truly, if it doesn’t bring you joy why are you spending emotional money on it? In the moment, when supporting your kid or best friend it can be tough but even tough situations can bring joy because you know what the payoff will be. You know your support will help others find what gives them joy and that in and of itself is a joyful thing.
